Join Italian teacher Kate and a group of new friends on a viaggio linguistico full of fun, laughter and excellent coffee... e magari anche torta! (and I hope also cake!)

About me

Ciao! Sono Kate or mi chiamo Kate, I first fell in love with Italy on a backpacking holiday at the impressionable age of 18. I went on to follow a career in International Marketing that took me to Rome, then lived la dolce vita in Rome per 12 anni. I've trained as a language teacher and taught Italian, English & Drawing. Italian is absolutely la mia preferita.

My teaching style

My lessons are conversation-based so you'll be speaking Italian from the very first class! I believe this provides the quickest shortcut to gaining fluency and independence, while also bringing in topic-based vocabulary (family, holidays, going to the shops, etc.)

I like to adapt my courses to suit my students' needs – from preparing for an upcoming trip to watching Italian films or focusing on pronunciation.

Talk in Italy

Location:

One of the reasons that I chose to live in Newark after 12 years in "la citta eterna di Roma" was the market square. It reminds me of some small Italian towns.

What better location that a historic independent Cafe smelling of fantastic coffee and cake?

I love their mission to use a wonderfully historic building and want to join them in bringing people into the centre of Newark on Trent.

Classes will take place in la bella casa del governatore The Governor's House on Friday mornings.

Kate's classes are engaging and fun, making learning Italian an unforgettable experience filled with laughter. She brings infinite patience to our lessons and a great sense of humour. She is so reassuring and that really helps me try new things out (she has even demystified Italian grammar!) She is always professional and creative but also brings a lovely personal touch. My confidence is growing all the time!"
